If you are planning 2027 hut treks or permit hikes, the booking windows cluster in September–October — well before most people start searching in November. Miss the opening hour on competitive routes and you spend months refreshing portals.
This calendar tracks Alps huts (TMB, Alta Via 1, SAC Bernina), FI Laugavegur huts, SANParks (including Otter Trail), and the Classic Inca Trail permit rhythm. Confirmed dates link to primary sources; pattern and watch items need a recheck before you pay.

Why October matters
Three separate systems converge in Oct:
- SANParks — online booking opens 14 Oct for stays through 31 Oct (official rolling calendar).
- TMB association refuges — historically 15 October on Montourdumontblanc.com for the following summer (pattern — verify on site).
- FI Laugavegur — autumn package release expected (watch — portal not live yet).
Dolomites rifugios often start the Sep–Oct wave for July–August beds — each hut sets its own date on its own website.

FI Laugavegur (Iceland)
Ferðafélag Íslands runs the Laugavegur hut chain. 2027 prices are published; the 2027 booking portal is not open yet (verified Aug).
Historical pattern: autumn release for the following summer, often as fixed multi-night packages before individual hut nights. Sign up for FI email alerts and book July–August first.

Inca Trail — operator watch
Classic Inca Trail permits are not sold directly to hikers — licensed operators hold the quota. Peru's Ministry of Culture typically announces the following year's calendar in early October, but no official schedule is published yet.
Do not trust tour-operator countdown blogs. Instead:
- Shortlist licensed operators with written permit confirmation terms.
- Pay a refundable or clearly documented deposit before October if you want peak-season dates.
