Tour du Mont Blanc

The Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is one of Europe’s most famous long-distance walks: a waymarked loop of about 170 km around the Mont Blanc massif, with roughly 10,000 m of ascent. The classic circuit starts and finishes in Les Houches (France) and crosses France, Italy and Switzerland.

It’s a moderate, approachable hut-to-hut (and hotel) trek in fitness terms — busy in summer, spectacular on high cols, and heavier on logistics than technical climbing. Accommodation booking, daily elevation and weather windows matter most. Lee’s self-guided itinerary was about 11 days.
