Boesmanskloof Packing List

Boesmanskloof is a 14 km one-way trail between Greyton and McGregor — most hikers do it as a long day with a shuttle; My trip was a 2-day out-and-back with an overnight at Eagle's Nest hikers' cottage.

Packing rules for Boesmanskloof

Day hike (one-way, ~14 km)

Daypack

20–30 L is enough for water, lunch, rain shell and camera.

Footwear

Trail shoes or boots with grip — rocky, uneven path; river crossings.

Essentials

• 2 L water minimum; purification if refilling at streams
• Snacks, lunch for Oakes Falls stop
• Sun hat, sunscreen
• Cash for permit and shuttle tip
