South Africa
A permit-required trail between Greyton and McGregor in South Africa’s Overberg — about 14 km one-way; my trip was a 2-day out-and-back.

Overview
The Boesmanskloof (Greyton–McGregor) Trail is a one-way hike of about 14 km through fynbos and mountain scenery in South Africa’s Overberg. Many people treat it as a long day hike; my published trip was a 2-day out-and-back.
It’s shorter than the alpine hut circuits on this site, but still needs permits, water planning and respect for heat and sun. The trail links the towns of Greyton and McGregor and sits in a different climate and logistics world than Iceland or the Alps.
Use the complete guide for permits, timing and what the days actually felt like. Trek Finder and Comparison help if you’re choosing between a short South African trail weekend and a longer European multi-day.
