Fimmvörðuháls

The Fimmvörðuháls trail links Skógar (near Skógafoss) with Þórsmörk across about 22–25 km of waterfalls, 2010 eruption terrain and high pass walking. Most fit hikers do it in one long day (8–12 hours); splitting across two days with a hut stay is a common way to ease the ascent and weather exposure.
