Cederberg Packing List
What to pack for Cederberg — wild camping kit for Wolfberg Arch and Maltese Cross, water carry, scrambling gear and hot-day layers.

Cederberg is wild camping under sandstone arches — no huts, no water on trail, scrambling through Wolfberg Cracks and cold nights at altitude. My five-day trip mixed Sanddrif cottage comfort with two nights camping at the Arch and Maltese Cross.

Packing rules for Cederberg
| Rule | Why |

| Trekking poles | Loose gravel, Cracks scramble |
| Sun protection | Exposed midday heat |
| Warm layers | Near-freezing nights, even in summer |
| Permits in pack | Trail + wild camp permits required |
Backpack
40–50 L for overnight with tent, food and 3+ litres water. Hip belt essential on the Arch climb with full pack.
