Rainbow Mountain

Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) sits above 5,000 m near Cusco. The popular day-hike route from Cusipata covers about 5 km round trip with a steep final pull to the viewpoint — short on distance, heavy on altitude. Longer Chillca routes and multi-day Ausangate circuits are alternatives if you want more trail time.

Lee hiked it as a warm-up before the Classic Inca Trail — landing in Cusco without checked luggage and still summiting with a minimal daypack.
