Stage highlights
Day 1 — Alone on shore
Boat from Ísafjörður (~2 h) to Hlöðuvík. Lee navigated by GPS through bog, snow and silence to Hornvík campsite — rain on the tent that "evening."
Day 2 — The Horn
Loop from Hornvík at low tide along black sand beach. Steep climb to The Horn — cliff-edge views, thousands of nesting seabirds. Arctic fox on descent.
Day 3 — Coastline wandering
Shorter coastal day back toward Hlöðuvík. Wild camp by a river — solo tent pitch in gusty wind.
Day 4 — Whiteout navigation
Climb into cloud — zero visibility, GPS-only navigation. Ice patches, rocky terrain, slow progress to Tjaldvaði.
Day 5 — Snow descent to civilisation
Steep snowy slope into Hesteyri — adrenaline descent, then café coffee before the boat.
