I carried Rab Microlight Down on Alta Via 1 in dry Dolomite summer. Nano Puff is the synthetic I recommend for UK, Iceland, and Pacific Northwest trips where I would not trust down loft after day three of drizzle.

PrimaLoft Gold Eco is the reason this jacket keeps appearing in recommendations: it retains useful warmth when damp, dries faster than down, and tolerates the humid dorm-and-terrace cycle of hut treks in Atlantic weather. You pay in weight and packed volume versus Microlight — on a dry Dolomite week that trade hurts; on a Skye shoulder-season week it saves the trip.
Who it's for
Hikers in wet-cold climates — UK, Iceland, Pacific Northwest, coastal Scotland — who need packable warmth that tolerates moisture better than down. Also strong for camp evenings when you cannot dry gear overnight and for hikers who want one insulation piece without down care anxiety.

Weather limits
Synthetic handles damp better than down but is not waterproof — saturated outer fabric still conducts heat away in wind. Pair with shell in active rain and dry when possible at huts to manage odour.
