Overview
The Osprey Aura AG 65 is the women’s-specific Anti-Gravity pack I shortlist when Atmos comfort is right but the unisex harness leaves hip-belt gaps. I have not carried Aura on a published HikingWithLee trek — AV1 was Decathlon MT500 — but I have compared Aura against Atmos and Exos in loaded shop and trail fittings for our trekking-backpack guides.
What stands out is the same AG load transfer as Atmos with a torso and hip-belt shape that fits many women better. That is the reason it earns the women’s heavy-load role in our shortlist: not a different suspension philosophy, a different fit geometry.
Who it's for
Women’s and non-binary hikers who need 12–18 kg comfort on hut-to-hut or hybrid camping loads and find unisex Atmos hip belts leave pressure points or gaps. Strong fit when you already prefer Osprey AG and need volume for camera kit, cold layers, or food carries between sparse huts.
Less ideal if you hike lean under ~11 kg — Exos-class or MT500 Air will feel lighter. Also skip if a shop fitting shows Atmos already seats perfectly; do not buy Aura only for the badge.
Fit and carry
Aura uses Osprey’s women’s harness and hip-belt patterning on the Anti-Gravity suspension — continuous mesh from back panel into the belt. On loaded fittings the difference versus Atmos shows up at the iliac crest and shoulder wrap, not in a radically different pack bag.
Torso length still needs honest measuring. Try Aura and Atmos back-to-back with 10–12 kg in the shop before you fly to a trailhead.
Packing and organisation
65 L covers week-long hut kits with insulation and camera cubes the same way Atmos does. Sleeping-bag compartment, lid pockets, and hip-belt pouches follow Osprey’s familiar layout — packing cubes still win for rifugio repacks.
If your kit is closer to 50 L of real volume, size down rather than buying Aura for the label alone.
